Film posters are used to advertise films before they are realeased into the cinema for people to watch. The typical film poster will have a large title, pictures of the characters, dates and film critics.
The point of a film poster is to impress and intrigue the audience enough for them to want to come and see the film.
The film crtic reviews on this poster are in a large font as they want to be noticed by the public. The film has achieved 4 out of the 5 stars from two different critics and this would appeal to the public as it being a good film.
It is important that film posters give the audience a good insight to the film. Film posters aim to produce accurate posters which embody the film. For example, it would be misleading for the poster of AdULTHOOD if the characters were all smiling with their arms around eachother because that is not how they act towards eachother in the film. In the poster the characters are postitioned with Sam at the front and the rest of the, are postione around him in some kind of social hieracy.
The release date must be visible so the audience know when they can see it.
The location of the poster seems to be over looking an estate building. In addition to their costumes, this immediatly implies to the audience that the characters are that of a working class. The sunrise in the background implies that now these people are adults, it signifies a new bveginning for them.
